Daybed’s sound is diverse, with albums ranging in tone from ambient to folk pop. Their forthcoming album, Idle Talk, uses the band’s background in hardcore and grunge music and twists it into a fever dream of vocalist/guitarist Smith’s nostalgia, creating a sonic déjà vu. Singles “Summer” and “Wind” are pure, crunchy power pop, while “Coming Home” creates a familiar feeling of fear and anxiety; like a classic horror movie, but the ending keeps changing.
Dad’s Home is an Austin based pop-punk quintet, dedicated to delivering a raw and authentic brand of pop punk that’s nostalgically familiar to fans of the genre. It wasn’t until the Summer of 2022 that Jeff Stringer and Eric Braun decided to sit down and finally record the first demo. From there, the Dads went on to release their debut EP, My Sitcom Life, on the eve of 2023. Jack Anderson of KUTX 98.9 describes the EP as being “delightfully uncouth…following the concrete-scuffed footsteps of their pop-punk forefathers”.
Since the release of their debut EP, Dad’s Home have delivered two new singles this year with the release of “Automatic Reply: No Thanks” and “Sundae”. Dad’s Home plans to perform several shows in the Fall of 2023 leading up to the recording of their sophomore EP in early 2024 entitled Weird Summer EP.
