2023 brings a new release CD, “Word Sound Power”, recorded in Senegal, Morocco, Canarias, and Costa Rica with special guest players and vocalists from around the world, a tribute to the late Peter Tosh. 2021 brought a tour of Afrika and album “Roots of Kulcha” and new video for the single “WE the People” going worldwide with a message of unity in a crucial time. Now prepping for “Asia Tour 23”, performing in Hawaii, Japan, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.
WATUSI is the original group on World Beatnik Records, for over 30 years a Texas reggae/worldbeat legend, they have won respect worldwide, with international tours and radio airplay in 130 countries… winning numerous Reggae and World Music Awards along the way. Watusi began with a seed from Jamaica, with Jimi meeting the great Wailer Peter Tosh, who mentored and sent on the mission of reggae music in 1976, brought to Jamaica in 1981, became Watusi in 1983 and has grown and spread this band and their unique blend of roots Reggae, soca, Afrikan, dancehall and Worldbeat music across America, performing and headlining festivals around the world, from Bangkok to Bali, Hawaii to Hong Kong Costa Rica to Colombia, Jamaica to Cuba, Senegal to Ghana.
