The Cover Letter

Hailed as “the most reinvented version of Americana you’ve ever heard… like if the rock of Meatloaf was thrown into the folk world” by Free Press Houston, Austin-based band The Cover Letter is on the rise in independent music.

Founded in the garage of bassist Jarrod Nall and guitarist/vocalist Jacob Shipman in 2013, the band has since grown into a dynamic six-piece featuring Evan Runyon (lead guitar), Angie Vanegas (vocals), Fletcher Inzer (keyboards) and Adam Kirschner (drums). They were ranked #1 in Music Connection Magazine’s Top 25 New Music Critiques 2017, named Top 10 Best New Austin Band and Top 10 Best Folk Band by The Austin Chronicle, and have been featured in festivals across the state of Texas, including: Deep Ellum Arts Festival, Pecan Street Festival and Via Colori Festival.

Following the 2017 release of their sophomore EP, Cities Made of Sand, The Cover Letter recorded a series of four singles. The final single, “I’ll Be the Sun,” was released in April 2019, and is available on all major music platforms. The band plans to record their first full-length album in the summer followed by a regional tour. The Cover Letter can be found on Spotify and all major music outlets, as well as across all social media.
