Robin Mordecai is a BMI affiliated songwriting multi-instrumentalist with his new EP “Portraits” released in April of 2022 and a string of shows coming up around Austin and beyond. He and his band have shared the stage with Joe King Carrasco, Dave Scher, Suzanna Choffel, Dave Madden to name a few.
Heavily influenced by Frank Turner, Butch Walker, Rick Springfield, and ’90s alt rock, Robin’s band is fun and fearlessly authentic.
He loves collaborating in the songwriting process. His single “Caroline” (2021) is a co-write with Jeff Plankenhorn and “Heartbreak” (2019) co-written with Andy MacIntyre and are featured below. Other co-writes include Dave Scher, Johnny Goudie and Ben Bazzrea.
“Caroline” was selected for BMI’s Texas Ten Spotify in December 2021 playlist and was also featured as “Song of the Day” on KUTX radio.
Feeding his inner nerd, Robin co-hosts Rock Detention Podcast with guitarist Zach Hennig and TJ Bjerke where they discuss life in the music biz with industry pros plus all things ’80s rock and anything else that might come up.
Robin has been a guest artist on Johnnie Goudie’s podcast “How Did I Get Here”, KOOP Radio’s “Under the X in Texas”, Sun Radio’s “Bridge Radio”, Wimberley Valley Radio’s “Over Easy with Coach” and Music Firsthand’s “Comedians Interviewing Musicians” and most recently a return visit to “Up Late Austin” TV Show.
As a sideman he plays bass with Pauline Reese, and fills the drum chair for host of local players. He has worked with Alan Parsons, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, Lisa Morales, Grace Pettis, Dr. James Polk and Casey McPherson and Alpha Rev.
