Rising from the ashes of Denton’s Best experimental band 2019, lluvii offers a smorgasbord of sounds ranging from art rock, latin fusion, tropical prog, and disco funk. Founded by Carol Gonzalez (guitar and vocals) but quickly joined by roommates and Luna Luna rhythm section, Kaylin Martinez (drums) and Ryan Gordon (bass), the group was made whole by the addition of keyboardist/ vocalist, Felix Kimbrell. Ignoring the age old tale of ‘sticking to a genre’, lluvii allows themselves to run with whatever inspiration comes in the moment. The chemistry and friendship of the band members truly drives the creative process, as you hear Carol and Kaylin vear into experimental rhythms, and Felix and Ryan’s seducing jazz funk melodies. Produced and recorded by Grammy Award Winning guitarist and producer, Beto Martinez (Grupo Fantasma, Caramelo Haze, Money Chicha), each instrument adds to the liveliness behind the bands unique sound: driving basslines, spirited drums, infectious keys, whispy vocals, and a warm guitar. lluvii continues to mature and explore soundscapes on their newest EP dropping August 2024, as seen in their latest single ‘Up All Night’.
