Lace (formerly known as Lacyy2k, born Jaden Lacy Haynes) is a West Texas-based hip-hop artist known for introspective lyricism and a dark, atmospheric approach to modern rap. He began releasing music independently at 17, building early momentum on SoundCloud with a sound that blends trap, cloud rap and ambient distortion.
Influenced by Kanye West, A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert, Lace creates emotionally driven music rooted in vulnerability, tonal experimentation and forward-thinking production. His work often explores themes of isolation, identity and internal tension through layered, mood-focused sound design.
His 2024 project Cyberdelia 24 marked a creative shift, with “ghost” emerging as a standout. He followed in early 2025 with johnwaynelacy, a more focused and self-assured release featuring “Sierra Mist Freestyle” and “King of Hearts.” He recently continued that momentum with unconventional, featuring standout tracks “Derek Jeter,” “Star Stop” and “Stitch,” further defining his evolving sound.
Lace has also expanded his live presence, opening for Big Tuck in San Angelo and performing at Antone’s Nightclub in Austin.
With each release, Lace sharpens his identity, positioning himself within a new wave of artists pushing hip-hop toward darker, more introspective and sonically experimental territory.
