Julianne Cary

Julianne Cary is an independent singer-songwriter based in New York and Texas, blending the soul of classic rock from the 70s and 80s with the raw honesty of lived experience. Winner of the Josie Music Award for Best Female Pop Artist (2018)—selected from over 13,000 submissions—Julianne has built a reputation for her powerful yet tender voice, often likened to Eva Cassidy, Jewel, and Dolores O’Riordan (Cranberries).
Songwriting since the age of eight, Julianne channels both personal stories and universal themes into her music. As a mental health advocate and therapist, she uses her platform to shine a light on the realities of mental illness—writing from the perspective of those navigating struggles such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Her artistry reflects deep influences from John Lennon, David Bowie, and Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, with a lyrical style that is both poetic and unflinchingly real.
Her discography includes Amy (2017), Hung/Over (2018), and Homesick (2020), all available on Spotify, iTunes, and major streaming platforms. Each release showcases her signature blend of heartfelt lyricism and classic-meets-modern rock sound.
Beyond music, Julianne is a graduate of SUNY Oswego (BA, 2017) and Teachers College, Columbia University (MA, 2020), and she is currently pursuing her doctorate in clinical psychology at Texas Tech University. Balancing artistry with advocacy, she continues to create songs that resonate with both emotional depth and timeless rock influence.
