George Rios,is a forth generation Texan he is very proud of his tejano roots. He considers himself a late bloomer when it comes to songwriting. He’s a 10 year member of the Georgetown Songwriters Group and considers himself very fortunate to be a part of these very talented songwriters.
There is one special song written and performed by George Rios called “Brand New Day”, which will be released very soon and available on all music streaming websites. It’s a ballad about Beverly and George’s son Erik Parker. Erik was a loving, charismatic and artistic soul who helped many people who were struggling with addiction. Erik was was deeply touched by the song especially since it was written about his success in recovery. Unfortunately Erik passed away from an accidental overdose in December 2019. Beverly and George together have raised five sons. The story has touched the hearts of people across the country, and it continues to tug at the heartstrings of George Rios, a loving father, and a wonderful singer/songwriter.
George is currently work on his next single, “Kill Me Slowly” and being produced by well know Georgetown singer and songwriter Alex Winters at Black Roses Records studio.
George Rios is the former singer/guitarist for “Blacktop Bend”, a roots music group performing throughout central Texas. He contributed to twelve years of live shows with the group with his excellence in guitar, combined with his gentle, soulful voice. George was also the founding member of a blues band called “Blue Sciatica”, and an Americana band, “Bull Creek Grifters”, an old time string band. Blacktop Bend released a CD entitled “Biking with Beverly”, named for the original tune he wrote for his wife. The CD features George on guitar, dobro, and harmonica, as well as singing and arranging in a wide variety of styles. It represents his wide range of interests and many influences as well.
George is proud to hear his songs played on KGTN Georgetown’s Community Public Radio and appreciates their support of local artists.
George and Beverly enjoy biking together, as well as traveling with their RV. Beverly enjoys her arts and crafts and creative sewing. George enjoys strumming, songwriting, and performing his music. Even though he is retired from the tech field, he says, “I’ll always be called the computer guy!”
