Chronologist is an instrumental progressive rock band based in Austin, TX made up of guitarists Julian Gargiulo, Johnuel Hasney and drummer Joel Turcotte.
The group formed at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2013. They began to make waves around the northeast with the release of an instrumental demo in 2014. After spending time touring and building their online fanbase, the group released their debut LP Cartographer in late 2016. Chronologist decided they would make the move to Austin, TX to work with producer Machine who has recorded with artists such as Lamb of God, Fall Out Boy, and more.
While attending school in 2013, Gargiulo first met Johnuel Hasney on a train headed to a show in Boston. The two maintained a deeply-rooted friendship throughout the years and even shared the stage on multiple occasions. Hasney was a member of the progressive metal group Toothgrinder during this time while Broomhall and Sacco continued on their own paths in music. The band then recruited Hasney and fusion drummer Joel Turcotte to solidify their current lineup. Gargiulo, Hasney and Turcotte are in the process of paving a new road for Chronologist by creating their next work in 2021.
