Anyone who has witnessed a Black Sheep Optimists performance will tell you “it’s hip-hop…but it’s not JUST hip-hop.” There’s something else.
Black Sheep Optimists is a band on the rise in Austin, TX. Featured in Austin Monthly for their debut EP “Book One” and recently having headlined the historic Pecan Street Festival, the city is starting to take note of one of its hidden gems. Produced by multi-instrumentalist and classically trained violinist David Price, their music shows influences from a wide variety of genres. Vocalists Daryl Van Aarde and Maneikis each bring their own unique style to a sound that flashes classic hip hop on one track to soulful indie rock on the next. What’s for certain is that whenever you click PLAY on a BSO track, you will get something to add to any number of playlist moods.
